Considering that they are not producing them for much longer I would pick one up. If you have a hard drive that saves your profile you will need one to port your profile to a friends xbox so you can play with your stats on their machine.
And NO WHERE is there any MS disclaimer or warning about this underhanded BS limitation. Just purchased two of these little turds thinking that I could use them to backup save game data to. I found out that there are some game titles that WILL NOT allow you to copy save game data - only move it. My advice to anyone seeking to purchase one of these with the intention to backup your save games is quite simply - Don't. Wait until enough **** has hit the fan and MS is forced to address this problem.
So, I bought this recently because my household has multiple xbox units and multiple gamers. This however, allows me to save my gamertag to the memory unit, pop it out of my xbox and into one of my sister's xboxs for a 30 second transfer to play multiplayer games anywhere in my house. It can be a real pain with having to recover your gamertag when you want to play on a different unit that's in the next room. Especially, when it can be really time consuming. I highly recommend this product to anyone who ever wants to play on multiple xboxs. Also the transfer speed is ridiculously fast and must faster than the 256 mb built in memory unit for the newer xbox arcade models.
It made a simple process of moving everything over to my new larger hard drive on my second Xbox 360. It took hours and several trips to transfer my old 10GB hard drive. Now, I have my non-Xbox Live gamer tags on the memory unit. For the price, this small sized storage device should be larger. I simply take the memory unit and the game disc to the other machine. But that's Micro$oft for ya. The process was easy, but I wish it held more data. A slow, but easy process.
What ya gonna do.The product works for me. I just copied every saved game from one hard drive to the Memory Unit and then took it in the other room and moved the data from the memory unit to the new, larger hard drive on my second 360. Yes, when playing under those tags I will need the memory unit, but I can play my games in either room now without having to remove the hard drives. I do not play on Live.
Good way to move data or profiles to a different hard drive or to a friends Xbox 360, better and faster than transferring gametags over Xbox Live. the memory is a issue though since its not a lot, its enough for a couple of gametags or even some game sames. Everything else like game downloads or xbox arcade games can be redownloaded over Xbox Live.
